The National Land & Water Resources Audit (the Audit) developed the framework for the consistent collection and collation of natural resource data across Australia.
Through the national NRM Monitoring & Evaluation Framework (NM&EF), information on specific natural resource topics -‘Matters for target’ - have been collected and managed, to report on Australia’s natural resource condition. Each matter for target has a set of ‘indicators’ that will be used to monitor and report on the topic.
The invasive species topic comprises two themes:

Theme sponsors are the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
National coordination of the invasive species theme is exercised by the Vertebrate Pest Committee (VPC) and the Australian Weeds Committee (AWC).
